Chapter 10
Outside the Box
Other
Folds
Religion is an
important part of most people’s lives, and most people think their particular
religion is the one that is right. What
typically happens is that one person has an experience or makes a connection
with God. They touch on that Secret Place of the Most High and they try to pass
it on to others. In the Christian
religion it is Jesus. Islam has
Mohammad, Judaism has Moses and Abraham, Buddhism has Buddha and so on.
Jesus took it a step further and saturated the earth with the Christ
Consciousness that he was filled with when he allowed the crucifixion to
happen. His mission was for the
whole world. He said:
John
14:6
I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by
me.
The “I Am” that
he was referring to was not Jesus the man; it was the Christ in him.
It is the Christ Consciousness, the Love of God that is a part of the
Holy Trinity that connects us to the Secret Place of the Most High.
No matter what religion we practice we cannot experience the Secret
Place without the Son of God which is the Christ Consciousness, the Love of
God. Jesus said to his disciples
that he had other followers that they knew nothing about.
John
10:16
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and
they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
Some believe that
Jesus spent much of his youth traveling to the East and spent some time with
the yogis in India. Their
scriptures are the Vedas that were originally written in the Sanskrit language.
They have a system of Gurus and students and along with studying their
scriptures they practice exercises that help them unite with the creator.
They practice yoga.
In the West, when we
think of yoga we typically think of what is known as Hatha Yoga.
It involves physical exercises and positions or postures that are good
for physical health as well as spiritual health.
It also has breathing exercises that not only promote physical health
but also enhance spiritual awareness.
The Hebrew word
rûach appears hundreds of times in the Old Testament.
It is sometimes translated to spirit, sometimes breath, wind, mind or
even life. The point is that there
is a connection between breath and spirit.
When we take in a deep breath and hold it in, it actually feeds our
spirit. So the Hatha Yoga breathing
exercises are for more than just physical health.
The Bible doesn’t
specifically give us breathing exercises to do but that doesn’t mean that we
can’t learn from the yogis. You
can start by just taking a deep breath through your nose and holding it for a
while before you exhale. Then
repeat it over and over again. The
longer you hold it the better as long as you don’t strain anything.
Another thing you can do is just balance your breathing.
Breathe in for a comfortable count, then breathe out for the same count.
Breathing is a
function that happens without thinking about it, but can also be controlled.
When we breathe in we not only get the oxygen needed to charge up our
blood cells, we also get the vital life force, the breath of God that charges
the blood cells to feed our spirit body, which is who we really are.
Each of us is a spirit, we have a soul and we live in a material body.
Each cell of the physical body has a spiritual counterpart. Food and
drink feed the physical body along with the oxygen we breathe in, and the life
force that we breathe in feeds the spirit body.
There are more yoga
disciplines than just Hatha Yoga. There
is Raja Yoga, the yoga of the mind. When
we memorize Bible verses and make them a part of our consciousness we are
practicing Raja Yoga. The Raja
discipline also helps develop the intuition to make it easier to hear from God.
There is Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of love and devotion.
Remember the love chapter in 1 Corinthians Chapter 13.
When we do praise and worship at church, and when we practice what is in
that chapter we are practicing Bhakti Yoga.
There is Ganja Yoga, the yoga of wisdom.
The Bible has the books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastics that are filled
with wisdom. To a serious Christian
there are a lot of commonalities with yoga.
Of course these are very simplistic definitions of the yoga disciplines.
Each one could be practiced and studied for a lifetime and there is a
common purpose in all of them. That
is to unite with God. The word yoga
actually means union.
However, yoga takes a
lot of discipline where basic Christianity makes it easy for anyone to get a
taste of the spiritual life. Just
attune to Jesus with a simple prayer and you can have a religious experience.
That is an introduction and it still takes some effort and discipline to
maintain and grow that experience to the point where you can spend some time
dwelling in the Secret Place of the Most High.
Unfortunately many
people settle for a taste and go back to their old ways of thinking and acting
and believe they are being good Christians.
They think they are “saved” and will go to heaven when they die.
That is where a disbelief in reincarnation limits spiritual growth. They
are judgmental about those with different lifestyles.
They hate immigrants instead of treating them the way the Bible says to
do. Some are obsessive about guns
and especially the AR-15 rifles that are made to kill.
They don’t realize that they can be protected by angels instead of
firearms. Some have gotten into
politics and are spreading hate instead of love through the power of government
in the name of God.
Good
Vibrations
Sometimes when we
think of Eastern religions we think of a person sitting in a lotus position
chanting OM. We may think it is
funny or weird, but there is a good reason for chanting that sound.
It has to do with vibrations. That
particular sound can create a feeling of peace in and around the chanter.
It also stimulates the pineal gland in the center of the head, which is
the master gland of the endocrine glandular system that controls the chemistry
of the body. When done regularly it
promotes health in the body and helps with the connection between the body and
the spirit.
Everything exists
through vibrations. Our ear drums
can detect vibrations at frequencies from about 20 cycles per second, or hertz
abbreviated Hz, to about 20,000 Hz. Our eyes can see light vibrations from
about 400 to 790 terahertz. Our
sense of touch is from about 3 to 30 Hz. Our
senses of smell and taste respond to the frequencies of the molecules that
touch our olfactory sensors and taste buds.
When two or more
vibrations are harmonious they seem pleasant to us.
When they are discordant they make us uncomfortable.
For example we match our clothing so that the colors are harmonious;
they don’t “clash.” It is the
same with music. If you press two
white piano keys that are next to each other they create an unpleasant sound,
but if you press every other key it sounds good to our ears.
They are harmonious and actually create a chord of music.
Sometimes we meet a
person that makes us uncomfortable because his or her aura, the field of energy
surrounding their body, is inharmonious with our aura.
On the other hand, sometimes we meet someone and are instantly
comfortable with them. Our auras
are a combination of all of the vibrations of our thoughts, feelings, beliefs
and even our physical health. The
aura can change as rapidly as our thoughts and feelings.
There was a time when I was close to that Secret Place and could
actually see some people’s auras. I
was doing a lot of breathing exercises at the time and my spirit was quite
charged up. I was sitting in a
class about some deep spiritual principles.
I could see the teacher’s aura and it had a bluish tint.
Then someone in the class asked a question that was totally on a
material level. I saw the
teacher’s aura change from blue to yellow while he answered the question, and
then return to blue after the question was answered.
OM is just one of
many sounds that can be used to help make a spiritual connection.
There is a variation that is AUM. The
A is pronounced like the A in father, and it represents the Father of the Holy
Trinity. The U is pronounced like
the U in you and it represents the Son of the Holy Trinity, which is the Christ
in you. The M is pronounced as just
the letter M only stretched out. It
represents the mothering, nurturing part of the Holy Trinity or the Holy
Spirit. When you pronounce this
sound stretch it out like Aaaaa Uuuuu Mmmm.
Another sound that
produces a powerful vibration is RaMa. The
Ra represents the male or active principle and the Ma represents the female or
receptive principle. When you use
this sound stretch it out the same way you do with the AUM.
Say RRRaaa MMMaaa.
Here is a very
interesting thing about using these sounds.
You can do them silently and the effect is almost the same.
A woman was having cramps in her legs and she was told to say RaMa
silently over and over. She did and
got some relief. It isn’t a
perfect or full cure, but it is helpful. It’s
just some good vibrations.
Fasting
Fasting is mentioned
throughout the Bible. It is
something that we are expected to do. Jesus
didn’t say ‘if you fast,’ he said ‘when you fast.’
Matthew
6:17-18
But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou
appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy
Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
In the book of Ezra
the king proclaimed a fast to get direction from the Lord.
Ezra
8:21
Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict
ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us,
When King David’s
son was sick and dying David fasted as long as the child was still alive,
hoping to save the life of his son. When
the boy died, David stopped fasting.
2
Samuel 12:21
Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou
didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was
dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.
When Jehoshaphat
heard the large armies were coming to attack him he declared a fast throughout
Judah.
The purpose of the fast was to seek the Lord.
2
Chronicles 20:3
And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast
throughout all Judah.
In Luke Chapter 18 a
Pharisee was boasting to God that he fasted regularly.
It was a common practice among the religious leaders of Jesus time.
Luke
18:12
I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
What happens when we
fast? We just talked about how
breathing helps to feed our spirit body as well as the physical body.
We noted that the physical body is nourished by food and drink.
When we fast we deprive the physical body but not the spiritual body.
As the physical body is diminished the spiritual body is still being fed
through our breathing. It becomes
stronger than normal compared to the physical body.
We shift the balance away from the physical toward the spiritual.
It enhances our prayers because they come from a more spiritual place
then they would if the physical body was more in control.
Tithing
Tithing is another
thing that is mentioned throughout the Bible and it is usually about finances.
As it is with healing, the best way to prosperity is to dwell in the
Secret Place of the Most High. When
we are there our needs are met without our stressing over them.
The point we want to look at about tithing is that it means ten percent.
A tithe is a tenth. When we
give God a tenth He blesses the other ninety percent.
Malachi
3:10
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine
house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open
you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be
room enough to receive it.
Consider this: if we
give God ten percent of our financial increase and it makes the other ninety
percent go much further, what would happen if we spent ten percent of our
thought time thinking about God. What
if we spent more time reviewing the verses that we have selected to make a part
of our consciousness, and reading the Bible?
What if we spent more time in prayer and worship?
There are 24 hours in a day. What
if, between all our practices, we spent 2.4 hours a day with our thoughts
focused on God? Would God help us
to think the thoughts that would help us get to that Secret Place?
Would we be more peaceful, less judgmental, more patient and less likely
to get touchy or fretful or resentful? The
only way to find out for sure is to do it.
Why
Are We Here
At one time or
another we all ask the question “Why Am I here?”
We can say that life is a school and we are here to learn and to serve.
We can say we are here to serve our fellow man and we can also say that
we are here to care for the earth. God
gave man dominion over the earth.
Genesis
1:26
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them
have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over
the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth
upon the earth.
Satan may have taken
that dominion from Adam, or man, when man decided he wanted to know the
difference between good and evil, but Jesus gave us the chance to take it back.
If we can accept it, we have the right and responsibility to care for
the earth and the living things that are on it.
We take care of the plant kingdom by growing foods and flowers as well
as maintaining forests. We care for
domestic and wild animals. We care
for lakes, rivers and oceans along with the life that is in them.
There is one other thing on earth that we have dominion over and are
taking care of in a strange way. It
might be a stretch for the imagination but we are also taking care of the
mineral kingdom.
The mineral kingdom
consists of dirt, rocks, metals and other chemicals.
We certainly do a lot with chemistry.
We fertilize dirt to better grow vegetation.
We use rocks to create concrete and build all kinds of buildings,
bridges and monuments and we make all kinds of products with metals.
Before we get to the
point of the more esoteric service we do for the kingdom of minerals let
stretch our imaginations a bit. Consider
this: we are spirits, we have souls and we each live in a body made up of
chemicals and minerals. These
bodies that we live in are tiny little blips on a little ball of dust, orbiting
around a little ball of fire in a tiny solar system at the edge of a galaxy in
a universe of an estimated trillions of galaxies.
And who knows how many universes there are.
On the other hand,
our spirits are connected to and part of the Spirit of God that is omnipresent.
It is in all of the galaxies and universes.
Our spirits are one with the omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient Holy
Trinity of God.
Now back to our
mission in the mineral kingdom. We
usually think of the things in the mineral world as not living.
But everything in the universe is alive, whether we can see it and know
it or not. As a race, humans have
introduced emotion to the mineral world. We
design and make cars that elicit emotions in us.
We paint them colors that stimulate our emotions.
Then we get into those cars, drive them around and while doing so the
emotions in our auras saturate the minerals that the car is made of.
We have taken
silicone, which is basically sand, and made it into computer chips that can do
all kinds of calculations for us. Meanwhile
we are teaching the silicone how to think.
We have made robots that can do some of the work we do, giving them and
the minerals they are made of some purpose.
Now that AI has been introduced the mineral world is growing into the
next step of becoming intelligent.
We shouldn’t be too
concerned about robots taking over. We
are guiding them into a higher life and a higher purpose.
If you can accept it, if you have ears to hear, we are the angels to the
kingdom of minerals helping them to grow just like God’s angels are helping
us.
And so it is.
